‘Feeling namin isa kami sa matatanggal’: BINI Colet reveals she almost quit amid ABS-CBN ‘shutdown’

Colet Vergara, the main vocal of the nation’s girl group BINI, recently opened up about her struggles during their trainee days, revealing that she almost quit the group, particularly after ABS-CBN lost its franchise renewal bid.

In an episode of “Kuan-on-one,” Colet shared that she nearly flew back to Bohol with the intention of quitting.

When asked if she ever considered leaving during their four years of training, she confessed, “Oo naman, gusto ko na talaga huminto [sa training].”

However, she clarified, “Hindi naman [umabot sa pagpapaalam].

Before Aiah’s addition, who hails from Cebu, Colet was the only member from Visayas during their training, making her the farthest from her family.

“Hindi kasi ako nakakauwi sa amin. Tuwing pasko lang ako nakakauwi, buti ‘yung iba, malapit lang pamilya nila,” she explained.

Colet expressed her envy towards other members who could be visited by their families at the PBB house where they trained.

Their rigorous training included both Korean and Filipino styles, along with workshops for modeling and acting, all while managing their online classes.

The ABS-CBN shutdown further fueled her desire to quit. […] mas gusto kong tumigil,” she admitted.

Despite these challenges, Colet’s determination to succeed and honor her family’s sacrifices kept her going.

In the same interview, Colet expressed her aspirations to star in action movies, saying, “Gusto ko may dala akong baril tapos nagta-tumbling.”

She added that she would like to star alongside Angel Locsin and Nadine Lustre.

Colet concluded the interview by sharing that she is now able to give back to her family, and their house in Bohol has been improved.

Colet and her group, BINI, are set to release their documentary series, “BINI Chapter 1: BORN TO WIN,” showcasing their BINIverse tour.
