TV host Vice Ganda dared to remove his wig on It’s Showtime to support an “Expecially for You” contestant dealing with alopecia.

During the Friday episode of the popular noontime show, a contestant revealed that she wears a wig because she has no hair due to alopecia.

As stated by medical website Mayo Clinic, hair loss, or alopecia, can impact either just your scalp or your entire body. This condition can be temporary or permanent and may result from heredity, hormonal changes, medical conditions, or simply be a normal part of aging.

The show’s hosts expressed their support for the contestant. “Saludo ako kay April, dahil nakangiti pa rin siya [..] willing ikwento ‘yung pinagdadaanan niya,” Kim Chiu said.

The “Unkabogable Star” added, “Maraming oras ang itinatawid namin, iniraraos kami ng pagwi-wig namin. Because this wig gives us power, hope, and energy.”

The hosts quickly became emotional as Vice continued, “Lahat tayo nangangailangan ng kakapitan sa buhay. Yung iba sa lipstick, sa blush on, [..] ‘yung iba sa wig.”

Having worn a wig for a long time due to a receding hairline, Vice said, “’Pag ‘yung taong ‘yon nakuha niyang magtanggal ng wig at ipakita niya, isa lang ibig sabihin noon, mahal ka niya at mahalaga ka sa kaniya.”
