Darren Espanto denies rumored rift with Cassy Legaspi after ‘best friends’ issue

Darren Espanto made clear that he and Cassy Legaspi are perfectly fine, contrary to misconceptions that they have ill feelings towards each otehr following his “best friend” remark about the actress.

“Nagulat po ako na ‘yun po yung biglang mga lumalabas…People kind of misunderstood the whole situation,” Darren shared in an interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda, referring to speculations that arose when he stressed in a recent interview that he and Cassy are “just best friends”.

“After that interview, there were some IG stories from Tita Carmina (Villarroel) and Cass and they kind of stitched it together,” added Darren. 

Darren referred to the instance netizens linked Cassy and her mom Carmina’s cryptic Instagram stories to his statement about their real score. 

“But what is the truth? Hindi kayo nag-aaway?,” host Boy Abunda asked Darren.  

“Opo, hindi po,” Darren answered, saying he’s used to Cassy posting songs she likes to listen to, as well as Carmina sharing motivational and inspirational quotes on their social media accounts.

The Kapamilya singer revealed reaching out to Cassy to make clear about the situation when the speculations made abuzz online. 

“That’s something that I clarified with her. ‘If you’re mad at me, if I did anything wrong, please tell me’,” Darren related his message to the Kapuso actress. 

“She doesn’t have any ill feelings towards me — she and her family,” Darren said of Cassy’s  response. 

Darren went on to reiterate that he and Cassy are really close friends so they try to address matters head-on as much as possible.

“Ganun naman po kami since we’re so close already. We would never try to beat around the bush,” he said.

“We became closer during the pandemic. Until now, we’re still best friends and the rest of the details sa amin na lang po,” Darren furthered about his relationship with the actress.
