Doctor Gia Sison passes away at 53

Medical doctor, mental health advocate, and podcaster Gia Sison has passed away. She was 53 years old.

Asociación de Alumnas de Poveda (AAP) announced Sison’s passing in a Facebook post, saying she passed away at 1:44 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, “surrounded by her family and loved ones.”

“Wife, mother, daughter, sister, hermana and friend.

“Doctor, podcaster, host. A mental health warrior, cancer survivor and celebrity all the days of her life. Her light continues on in all whose lives she touched.

“Please join us in prayer for the eternal repose of our dear Hermana Gia’s soul,” AAP wrote as tribute for Sison.

Dr. Rogin Sison, her husband, mourned her passing with a short but heartfelt message, alongside  photos of them together.

“No words can express the sorrow but I am happy you are peaceful now, no pain, no sufferings.  I love you so much my soulmate, my Henny Hen,” wrote Rogin.

Just a few weeks ago, Sison revealed she suffered Aborted Sudden Cardiac Death on February 25, 2024, saying that she “died for six seconds”.

Describing her experience, Sison explained: “I died for six seconds, stuck in a black hole then suddenly scooped back in with the prominent voice of my husband repeatedly asking me to ‘come back’ after which I heard him apologize for defibrillating me and the rest just happened so fast.”

“I guess my time ain’t over yet. I have so many people to thank for on a separate note but I just wanted to say thanks for another shot at life given by the Lifemaker Himself~ thy will be done,” Sison reflected, sharing a photo of herself on the hospital bed, captured after all the chaos and when things died down.

On March 10, Sison also revealed going in and out of the hospital.

Sison, a breast cancer survivor, previously hosted G Talks on CNN Philippines, Walwal Sesh podcast on Spotify, and was featured on several other podcasts that discussed topics such as health, love, and relationship.
