Vice Ganda gives update on talent Awra Briguela after bar brawl issue

It’s Showtime mainstay Vice Ganda addressed rumors saying he had dropped Awra Briguela as talent.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Vice clarified that he is still the talent manager of Awra.

“Yeah, she is still my talent,” Vice told ABS-CBN News.

Rumors spread that the TV host-comedian had left Awra as talent manager following the news of her arrest after she figured in a bar scuffle in Poblacion, Makati last June.

“Alam mo nagtataka ako kung saan nila nakukuha. One, no one asked me, ikaw lang ang nagtanong sa ‘kin. I was not interviewed by anyone so nagtataka ako kung saan nila nakukuha ‘yung chikang iniwan ko si Awra. Na-interview ba nila si Awra?” Vice reacted to the rumors.

“Kasi si Awra cannot be interviewed by anyone, bawal kasi siya ma-interview. Kaya grabe talaga ‘yung clout-chasing, ‘yung para magamit ‘yung pangalan ko, ‘yung pangalan ni Awra,” he added.

When asked how he handled Awra’s arrest, Vice aired, “Pinagpahinga ko muna siya ng ilang araw… para mahimasmasan. Tapos ako din papahupain ko kasi siyempre galit din ako, mainit din ang ulo ko.”

He also reported that he had spoken to Awra’s father about the issue, saying, “‘Yung usapan na ‘to, everything is coming from concern, love and support.”

“‘Yung mga issues na hindi ko na muna ita-tackle, bahala na ‘yan sa susunod. Ang gusto kong klaruhin ay hindi kami naghihiwalay ni Awra. Hindi ko siya iiwanan lalung-lalo na sa posisyon ng buhay niya, she needs guidance and I will be there for her,” he reiterated his current stance with the young star.

Vice shared how Awra is doing nowadays, “She’s okay. She’s trying to be better everyday.”

“Wala tayong magagawa, nangyari na ‘yun. Magsisisihan pa ba tayo? Magmumurahan pa ba tayo? What can we learn from this especially you? What can you learn from this experience? How can this experience strengthen you as a person and empower you to be a better person?” Vice expressed his sentiments over the matter and the ongoing speculations about his talent.

According to a report by The Philippine STAR, Awra was initially reported to the police for physical injuries, direct assault, alarm, and scandal and disobedience to a person in authority.

She is now facing three more charges for light threats, grave coercion, and violation of the Safe Spaces Act after posting bail last July.
