Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano-starrer An Inconvenient Love got included in Netflix’s Global Top 10 most streamed Non-English films.
The Star Cinema-produced romantic comedy-drama movie ranked ninth on the streaming platform’s Non-English Films chart for the week of February 20 to February 26, viewed for 1,960,000 hours.
Following its Netflix premiere last February 23, An Inconvenient Love, helmed by Petersen Vargas, quickly rose as the platform’s most watched film in the Philippines.
Head of ABS-CBN Films Kriz Gazmen took to Facebook to express pride in the film which marked Star Cinema’s big screen comeback in November 2022.
“So happy to see that An Inconvenient Love is the 9th most-streamed non-English film globally on Netflix for the period of Feb 20-Feb26, despite being on their platform for only 4 days.
He added, “I am so proud of this film and the team behind it! May this inspire us to create more stories for a global audience”.
Written by Enrico Santos and Daisy Cayanan, the film revolves around the story of young lovers Ayef (Belle) and Manny (Donny) who “agree to a casual relationship, but this convenient arrangement grows complicated as their romance reaches an expiration date”.
The film also stars Tirso Cruz III, Teresa Loyzaga, Epy Quizon, Matet de Leon, Precious Lara Quigaman, Maxene Magalona, JC Alcantara.
An Inconvenient Love is Donny and Belle’s (a.k.a. DonBelle), second film together following their hit debut movie Love Is Color Blind and series He’s Into Her.
Meanwhile, the tags AIL TOPS NETFLIX GLOBAL and #AnInconvenientLoveonNetflix also landed on Twitter’s trending topics on Wednesday as fans celebrated the film’s milestone.
