Drag Race Philippines is all set to premiere on August 17 with RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jiggly Caliente as one of its main judges.

The announcement was made by American production company World of Wonder last Sunday, May 15.

In a statement released to Entertainment Weekly, Jiggly said she feels overjoyed being part of the Drag Race Philippines judging panel.

“There is a fierce Filipino drag scene and I am proud to be returning to my home country in this new role as a Drag Race judge to shine a spotlight on these incredible artists to the world — or the universe, rather. Pak! Mabuhay, Drag Race!” she said.

Jiggly, a contestant from the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and the sixth season of its spin-off Rupaul’s Drag Race: All Stars, also made the announcement at the RuPaul’s Drag Con in Los Angeles, California.

The trailer of Drag Race Philippines also revealed that the highly-anticipated series will come with the Untucked series, a show featuring behind-the-scenes drama and unseen footage of the contestants.

It was last August 2021 when RuPaul announced that casting auditions for Drag Race Philippines have begun. Other details regarding the drag competition, specifically its main host and contestants, have yet to be revealed, as of writing.

Created in 2009, RuPaul’s Drag Race is a reality competition show for drag queens created by RuPaul and World of Wonder. In recent times, the show has spanned many different international franchises, including Thailand, the United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, and Holland.

One of the original series’ contestants from season 3, Filipino-American drag queen Manila Luzon, is set to host another local reality drag queen competition in the form of Drag Den Philippines. The show opened its casting last July 2021 but has yet to reveal details about the premiere date and contestants.
