Michael V. warned his followers after he was scammed with a fake online shopping delivery scheme.
The comedian revealed that a package, priced more than its usual cost, was delivered to his home via cash-on-delivery (COD).
He shared that the selfie stick that arrived usually costs P500 but was marked up to P2,550. It was received by one of his helpers since he was not at home.
Bitoy, as he is fondly known by the public, clarified that he pays with his credit card when shopping online.
“Ma-markahan nila ng COD tapos i-ma-markup nila yung produkto nila like this selfie stick. Mga 500 pesos lang yung presyo pero 2,250 pesos yung siningil. Tapos, pag halimbawang hindi alam nung nag receive, syempre mag babayad,” he said in an Instagram video.
He also pointed out a few of the telltale signs that the delivery was a scam. On the receipt, the seller used a fake number and an incomplete name.
The 51-year-old then reminded his fans that if the same situation happens to them, they can say no to the delivery rider.
“My advice is to be fair tsaka dun sa mga mahilig naman mamili online, mag ingat kayo. Be vigilant, abangan niyo yung mga scam kagaya nito. Basta kung ‘di niyo in-order, just say no,” he ended.
