Ex-PBB housemate Franki Russel joins Miss Universe UAE

Former Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) housemate Franki Russel has stepped out of her comfort zone to try her luck in the beauty pageant scene.

The Filipina-Kiwi beauty, recently revealed that she officially joined the United Arab Emirates or UAE’s first–ever Miss Universe pageant.

In an Instagram post, Franki shared photos of her all glammed up in a blue ensemble and quoted in the caption: “Femininity doesn’t make you weak, it’s your super power.”

“I am so inspired by everything this pageant stands for. Diversity, celebrating women from all walks of life, empowerment and breaking stereotypes.

“Stepping out of my comfort zone never felt so good,” she added.

Franki, who’s among the top 300 candidates who passed the application process, also took to Twitter to share what made her decide to join the beauty pageant.

“Diversity, celebrating girls from all cultural backgrounds, breaking stereotypes, and empowerment. I always want to try something new and challenge myself every day, while having fun and staying true to who I am.

“Let’s grow and step out of our comfort zones together. To those who have shown support, I see you and I feel so blessed,” read her tweet.

The model-turned-actress, who currently resides in Dubai, was a part of PBB Otso edition in 2018 and has appeared in several TV shows such as Ang Probinsyano.

The Top 30 candidates who will be vying for the Miss Universe UAE crown will be announced on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
