As she celebrated reaching three million subscribers on her YouTube channel, Toni Gonzaga looked back on how a “boring” video and “unsure” start led to a career on the platform.
The actress-host’s first vlog entry, Why It Pays To Wait, featured their family’s trip to Amanpulo, Palawan.
In the video, she spoke candidly about how strict her parents were when it comes to relationships. When her and Paul Soriano were still dating, they weren’t allowed to go on vacations — just one of the activities Toni has always dreamt of.
“I realized that your obedience and sacrifice will always be rewarded in the end. Medyo matagal tagal ang hinintay ko para ma-experience to pero it was all worth it. Kaya pala ako pinaghintay ng matagal kasi may magandang nakalaan,” she shared in the video.
In an Instagram post marking her milestone, she admitted that she found her first YouTube video boring. Toni joked she couldn’t make videos as fun as her younger sister Alex’s.
“I wasn’t sure about what I was doing then but I was at peace about one thing, if my story can speak to someone’s heart then it served its purpose. Yun na lang.
“36 videos later… We are now celebrating with 3 million of you and more who have subscribed to our channel,” she wrote.
She then thanked the many netizens who subscribed to her channel and joining her in her journey of learning, growing and evolving.
Since the pandemic, Toni has started her own series Toni Talks where she does refreshing and thought-provoking conversations with celebrities.
