Willie Revillame shares experience of getting COVID-19 vaccine

Willie Revillame or Kuya Wil has already received his first jab of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine.

In an episode of his variety show Wowowin, the TV host shared his experience of getting inoculated against the coronavirus on Monday and encouraged qualified individuals who are having second thoughts to do the same.

“Wala akong naramdaman, nakikipaglokohan pa ako eh, tapos na pala,” said Kuya Wil.

Kuya Wil, who turned 60 early this year, said that he received the vaccine because he’s already a senior citizen. He related the whole process, which required him to pass a health screening. The vaccine was administered for free.

“Kukuhanin muna ‘yung blood pressure mo. Che-checkin ka lahat, oxygen mo, lahat bago ka nila ma-injection. Titingnan ho kung ika’y high blood o hindi. Sa awa ng Diyos, kanina nasa ano ako eh, 130 over 80, batang-bata,” he said.

According to the TV host, he is scheduled to receive his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on May 11. Getting fully vaccinated will give him protection against “moderate-to-severe” COVID-19, he added.

Reports have said that Sinovac‘s efficacy rate is found to be around 50-percent for “very mild cases requiring no treatment”, 84 percent against “infections requiring some medical intervention” and 100-percent effective at preventing “moderate-to-severe” cases, including death.

“Yan ay importante para po sa atin to, para sa ating buhay ‘to,” said Kuya Wil.

The Department of Health earlier announced that medical frontliners as well as those in the vulnerable groups such as senior citizens and individuals with comorbidities are in the priority line for the government’s vaccination program.

As of Wednesday, the health department logged 8,122 additional cases of COVID-19 in the country.
