On Monday, Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin took to Instagram to share that she is a proud ally of the LGBTQ community.
“In a world with so much hatred, everyone should be allowed to feel safe & loved #HappyPrideMonth #FreePride20,” she wrote.
While many seemed to be happy with her pronouncement, one netizen questioned the actress’ post.
Repent, save the sinner’s and stop the wickedness.”
Angel countered the comment, saying that the Bible has always asked believers to love their neighbors.
“As for my knowledge as a Christian, ang paulit ulit na binabanggit sa bible is love one another or love your neighbor. Yan ang tungkulin natin sa diyos at kapwa na dapat nating sundin at Diyos lang ang makakahusga,” she said.
Another netizen said that it is Angel’s responsibility to “enlighten her brethren,” adding that it is clear that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin.
“It’s your responsibility as a Christian to enlighten your brethren and malinaw na nasa Bible that the act of homosexuality is a sin. Nasa Bible po yan. You can even ask your Pastor. Do not cherry-pick the gospel,” she said.
The comment did not sit right with Angel, asking why the commenter would deny other people their rights.
“So what’s your point? I’m all for equal rights. Why deny them that dahil tingin mong tama ka?” she asked.
During the month of June, the LGBTQ community celebrates the Pride month, with a march championing for equal rights and other social issues.
