Angel Locsin revives fundraising initiative for COVID-19 mass testing efforts in Phl

Angel Locsin is not stopping her Darna duties anytime soon!

The Kapamilya star is bringing back Shop and Share, where big-name personalities auction off their prized belongings for a cause.

The initiative, she said, was first up in 2009 after Typhoon Ondoy devastated the country.

“We had actors, singers and even basketball players donate personal items from designer bags, clothes, jerseys, jewelry, etc., and we auctioned them off on ebay, with all the proceeds going to the Philippine Red Cross,” she said in an Instagram post.

In her post, the 35-year-old actress reached out to her fellow artists in reviving the initiative.

“This time, with the funds we raise, we would like to purchase test kits and allow testing opportunities for the poorer sectors in the hopes of helping out in the efforts to provide mass testing in the country,” she wrote.

Locsin said she supports mass testing and is pushing the “test-trace-isolate/treat” formula because “it’s the only proven way to defeat the virus.”

The actress has been branded as the real-life Darna after her countless philanthropic efforts in helping the country with its various challenges.

Her UniTent initiative, which aimed to help solve hospital overcrowding by setting up additional tents outside public and private hospitals amid the COVID-19 pandemic, raised over P11M and provided 246 isolation and sanitation tents.
