‘Magkaiba man ng bakod, we are one in the media industry’: Dingdong Dantes backs ABS-CBN franchise renewal

Kapuso star Dingdong Dantes expressed his support for rival network ABS-CBN after the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) asked the Supreme Court (SC) to revoke the broadcast network’s congressional franchise through quo warranto last Monday.

In a statement, Solicitor General Jose Calida said they want to put an end to the network’s “highly abusive practices”.

“We want to put an end to what we discovered to be highly abusive practices of ABS-CBN benefitting a greedy few at the expense of millions of its loyal subscribers. These practices have gone unnoticed or were disregarded for years,” he said.

The network fought back and emphasized they did not violate the law. In a statement, ABS-CBN identified the allegations as “ill-timed” and “without merit.”

ABS-CBN’s biggest stars such as Boy Abunda, Coco Martin, and Regine Velasquez asserted their stand against their network’s shutdown (‘Para sa amin personal ito’: Boy Abunda, Coco Martin, Regine Velasquez react to SolGen’s quo warranto vs ABS-CBN).

Early today, actor Dingdong Dantes of GMA 7 took to social media to show his support for the rival network.

“Magkaiba man ng bakod, we are one in the media industry. We have one love for the many talents and crafts under this network, the products and output of which, directly or indirectly, benefit the lives of millions of Filipinos,” he wrote on Twitter.

Dingdong continued on to say that he prays the true interest of the people will prevail over any political agenda.

“I pray too that the government, thru Congress, will hear out its constituents. After all, Congress is supposed to represent our ‘voice.’ #NoToABSCBNShutDown.”
