Roxanne Barcelo once vowed to herself that she will never sing again.
The Tawag ng Tanghalan celebrity contestant has reached for the microphone once again after going through the death of Bella Tan, the person who gave her her first record deal at Universal Records.
At an interview for Tonight with Boy Abunda, Roxanne revealed that her father has always been supportive of her singing.
“Ang gusto lang makinig ay si Tatay. When I drive for him sasabihin niya ‘Anak, play mo nga yung sinulat mong kanta’. Siya lang,” she said.
“Sayang ang mga kanta mo, anak,” was one of the last things Roxanne heard from her father.
His encouraging words inspired her to revisit her love of singing. She realized the best way to honor those who believed in her was to continue performing.
“Isa lang yung dasal ko. I just said to myself ‘I wanna sing and finish the song without shedding a tear because I miss him everyday of my life,” she said.
