While our health workers are busy risking their lives to save the country from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), their families look forward to the day they can be with each other once again.
Four-year-old Redd is one of the many children waiting for their frontliner parents to finally come home.
In a viral facebook post uploaded by his aunt, Hienrica Louinski Romero, the boy is seen holding up a sign that asked the public to stay home so that his parents can come home, too.
“My mom and dad are frontliners. Please #StayAtHome so that they can come home too. #NurseDuties,” his sign said.
His mother works in a private hospital while his father is on duty for a public hospital in Tarlac.
Romero told The Philippine STAR that they received a message from Redd’s parents, informing them that they will not go home because they were both exposed to a PUI (person under investigation) patient.
“They wanted to protect Redd because he is asthmatic,” she said.
During video calls, he would always say that he misses his mom and dad already.
Romero said she posted her nephew’s photo to remind the public that families of health workers will also be affected if they don’t take the proper precautionary measures to halt the transmission of the disease.
“While hindi sila nakikinig sa rules natin ay may mga batang naghihintay sa kanilang magulang na nag-ta-trabaho sa hospital,” she said.
She mentioned that it’s disheartening to watch her sickly nephew yearn for his parents. Romero assured that while his parents are away, she and their other family members are taking care of Redd.
“Naawa ako sa kaniya, kase bata pa siya and kailangan niya yung magulang niya. Pero on the other side naman naiisip ko pa din na madaming matutulungan yung parents niya,” she shared.
