Hospital CEO in Iceland thanks Pinoy frontliners for their service in Tagalog

A CEO of a hospital in Iceland paid tribute to the Filipino immigrants who are serving in the frontlines of the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in their country.

Dr. Páll Matthíasson, head of the National University Hospital of Iceland, uttered a few Tagalog words during the government’s COVID-19 briefing last Monday, April 20, to express appreciation to Pinoy health workers for their dedication at work.

Úlfar Harri Elíasson shared a short clip of Matthíasson’s message of thanks on Facebook.

“There is a huge number of Filipinas and Filipinos working at the hospital and he thanked them in Tagolog with very nice pronunciation ❤️,” wrote the uploader.

“Maraming salamat sa pagiging masipag,” said Matthíasson with his hands clasped together.

As of writing, Iceland currently has 1,789 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths and 1,542 recoveries.

Earlier in April, British TV personality Piers Morgan also gave a special shoutout to an “amazing number” of Filipino frontliners at the UK Health Services.
