Claire dela Fuente, son speak up on Christine Dacera’s death

Claire dela Fuente and her son Gregorio Angelo de Guzman broke their silence on the death of flight attendant Christine Dacera.

The veteran singer’s son Gregorio Angelo de Guzman was tagged as a suspect along with 10 other individuals in the incident.

On Tuesday, Dela Fuente told ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual that while she expresses sympathy for Sharon Dacera, the mother of the victim, she asks that innocent people should not be put in jail.

“Pero sana naman may balancing act, maging rasonable tayo para di tayo makasakit ng mga inosent at makapagbiktima ng ibang tao. Let’s not put innocent people in jail,” she said.

She continued on to express how unfair it was that her son was being tagged as a suspect.

“The truth is on our side and I am confident na malulusutan ito ng anak ko,” she said.

De la Fuenta added that it was her son who tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Dacera. She also clarified that her son is not in hiding but following police advisory.

“Together with our lawyer, I am here to support my son,” she said.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Emil Sumangil of GMA News TV‘s Quick Response Team, De Guzman denied the allegations.

“Paano po naging rape? Bakla po ako. Hindi po ako nakipagtalik sa babae, ever in my life,” he said.

According to De Guzman, he had only met Dacera on the night of the incident through his flight attendant friends. He said he slept ahead and only learned about it in the morning.

He said that they tried to save her and that he himself performed CPR on her. “Nandun kami sa police station, sa ospital, sa hotel, hindi namin siya iniwan.”

Meanwhile, in an interview aired by DZBB, Sharon, the mother of Dacera, asked that if the suspects are innocent, they should come out of hiding and make their own statements.

“Make yourselves visible. Say the truth, because how can Christine speak when she is not here anymore? You can make your statement. How can I prove [that your innocence] is true? My daughter is not here anymore, she cannot fight anymore. If you are really innocent go out,” she said.

On January 1, Dacera was found lifeless at a hotel room in Makati after attending a New Year’s ever party with her friends.

The Philippine Star reported that the 23-year-old was declared dead at the hospital due to rupture aortic aneurysm. Makati City police chief Col. Harold Depositar said the possibillity of rape is also being investigated.

Three of the eleven suspects were taken into police custody while the eight others remain at large, as of writing.
