Lloyd Cadena’s mom opens up on family situation after YouTube star’s passing

Lloyd Cadena’s mom Lorita finally opened up on her last days with the late YouTube star two months after his untimely death last September.

During Sunday’s episode of Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho (KMJS), Lorita couldn’t help but get emotional as she told broadcast journalist Jessica Soho how at first she couldn’t believe her youngest child was gone so soon after testing positive from COVID-19. (READ: YouTube star Lloyd Cadena passes away.)

“Sa una di ako maniwala eh, kasi nagte-text pa kami sa gabi. Bigla,” Lorita said. “At saka si Lloyd malihim, di siya nagsasabi sa akin, ayaw niyang malungkot ako.”

Lorita believes that Lloyd acquired COVID-19 at the hospital. “Baka dun nalang siguro sa hospital nakuha. Di ako maniwala na COVID-19 yun kasi kaming dalawa magkasama sa bahay eh. Tapos nung nagpa-swab test naman kami, clear naman kami lahat.”

She never had the chance to properly say goodbye to her son, so she said she’s holding to her favorite memories of Lloyd. “Lagi siyang na gu-goodnight, nag-a-I love you.”

Lorita also addressed questions asking about the family’s financial situation following her son’s sudden death.

Before he died, Lloyd gifted his mom a brand-new house that she would retire in after years of working as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).

His last vlogs were mostly dedicated to updates regarding the construction of their new home, a dream he also credited to his YouTube subscribers. (READ: In last vlog, Lloyd Cadena thanked followers for making his dreams come true.)

In one video where he finally brought Lorita to the house, the proud mom expressed her happiness over their transfer from their old residence in a squatter’s area.

“Pero hindi pa fully paid, ‘wag masyado masaya,” Lloyd teased his mom.

On Sunday, Jessica Soho asked Lorita Cadena: “I’m sure maraming nagtatanong, paano na yung bahay? Bayad na ho kaya yun?

“Pasensya na rin ho kayo pero secure ho ba kayo financially ni Lloyd kasi biglaan ho yung pagpanaw niya?” she also asked.

“Financially naman, okay naman kami. Secured naman,” Lorita replied.

As for the house, Lorita said, “Yung bahay kasi sakay pa siya sa MRI. Yun ang nilalakad ng mga anak ko.”

MRI stands for Mortgage Redemption Insurance, a form of life insurance that “pays off a part or the whole of the insured’s outstanding mortgage balance in case of his or her death or total disability.”

“Galing naman ako sa ibang bansa may naipon din naman ako,” Lorita added.

She revealed that she had dreamt of Lloyd once since his passing.

“Masaya naman siya dahil baby siya ng napanaginipan ko, parang angel na siya. Nag-sma-smile, naglalaro, parang nasa garden, patakbo-takbo. Siguro masaya na siya.”

Asked to give a message to her youngest child, Lorita said, “Salamat sa lahat ng naipundar niya sa amin, salamat sa pagmamahal sa pamilya. Si Lloyd generous talaga yun. Binibiyan yung mga kapitbahay namin sa Kaingin. Alam ko naman masaya na siya din kasi kasama naman siya ng Panginoon.”
