‘Stop victim shaming’: Pia Wurtzbach breaks silence over family feud

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has finally broken her silence over her sister Sarah’s controversial rants against her and their mom online, saying “this is a very hurtful time for our family.”

In an Instagram post on Monday evening, Pia posted a family photo which showed her sister Sarah and her children, and mom Cheryl Alonzo Tyndall.

“I’m sure a lot of you know that my family is going through some issues at the moment and and most of it is posted online. This is a very hurtful time for our family,” the beauty queen admitted.

Earlier in October, Sarah slammed Pia for having a bad attitude, not being a supportive sister to her emotionally and financially, and for siding with their mom who allegedly asked Sarah to leave her husband because of supposed failure to support her two children.

Sarah later on apologized for her outburst and told netizens to stop hating on her older sister Pia who went into a social media hiatus for more than a week after the former’s controversial rants online.

In a private message to STAR, Sarah revealed that she had already patched things up with Pia.

Sarah, however, continued to criticize and blame their mother who is also based in London via Instagram stories, as she spoke about being abused and raped in the past.

Cheryl, nonetheless, denied Sarah’s statements against her in a YouTube vlog released on November 1. “Gagawin ko ba iyan sa mga anak ko? Hindi po. Hindi po ako ganyang tao. Hindi po ako ganyang ina,” she said.

“Huwag ninyo akong husgahan kasi talagang inalagaan ko ‘yung ang aking mga anak,” she added.

In an Instagram post on Monday evening, Pia appealed to the netizens to stop victim shaming and throw hurtful words against her family, especially Sarah.

“My sister, especially, had a very traumatic experience and I humbly ask everyone to be kind to her,” she said.

“We are trying to resolve our family issues privately and I ask for your support by not trying to put the blame on anyone and stop victim shaming,” she continued.

She added, “Please be mindful on your posts and comments to Sarah, mabigat ang pinagdadaanan niya ngayon. Bilang anak at kapatid, napakasakit sa akin na makitang nagkakaganito ang mga taong mahal ko.”

Pia also asked prayers for their healing and reminded everyone to be compassionate during these trying times.

“Hiling ko na lang po sa inyo na isama nyo kami sa inyong mga dasal at sana mahanap na rin ng aming pamilya ang nararapat na healing. Sa panahon na ito, magpakita po tayo ng pagmamalasakit at pagmamahal sa isa’t isa. Maraming salamat po.”
