Alex Gonzaga reveals COVID-19 journey: ‘Nagkaroon ng outbreak sa aming bahay’

Alex Gonzaga revealed that she along with her fiancé Mikee Morada, parents and other household members had tested positive for COVID-19.

The TV host-actress shared in her latest YouTube vlog titled My COVID Journey which documented her two-week isolation at their home.

Alex disclosed that there was an “outbreak” in their house, saying that her mom, dad and Mikee and personal assistant Sofie all tested positive, after an unnamed member in the household went out to buy food and supposedly contracted the coronavirus.

She said that sister Toni Gonzaga and her family, as well as other relatives that went to their house, tested negative for COVID-19.

This was the reason why she was a no-show in TV5’s newest noontime show Lunch Out Loud (LOL).

“Hindi ako nagpapakita sa show for two weeks, it’s because nagka-COVID po ako and thank God ako ay naka-survive. Actually, the whole family nagkaroon po ng outbreak dito sa aming bahay,” said Alex.

She added, “Nakuha namin siya out of pagkain sa labas which is naiintindihan ko naman. Nagyaya siya nawala lang siya ng ilang hours siguro dun niya nakuha yung COVID.”

Alex along with Sofie and Mikee had mild symptoms while Mommy Pinty, Daddy Bonoy, and Mikee were all asymptomatic.

According to Alex, she exhibited the most symptoms including slight fever and loss of sense of taste and smell. But they were all home-quarantined because their symptoms were “manageable”.

The actress-vlogger also opened up about her “frustration” with the delay of their family plans and a life milestone, hinting at her planned wedding to Mikee.

“Tina-try ko ngayong kausapin si Lord… kasi sobrang nasira yung plans ko ngayong October. Gusto kong ikasal ngayon kasama yung family, konting friends. Dahil sa walang ka kwenta-kwentang bagay, nagkaroon kami ng COVID,” an emotional Alex admitted.

But despite what happened, Alex said she is still most thankful that her family survived the ordeal.

“We are very blessed na nasurvive (namin) yung COVID, natalo (namin). Tapos na-realize ko na hindi naman namin matatalo ‘to of course kung kami lang to ng family namin. God healed us, na hindi naramdaman ng mommy ko, ng parents ko yung lala ng sitwasyon even if they’re senior citizens.”

While her situation made her break down in tears at times, Alex also talked about her COVID-19 journey in her signature humor, even jokingly calling herself and her parents, “Pamilya positibo”.

She said, “You know, we are a family of positivity but we don’t invite negativity here.”

Alex further related that she wanted to share her COVID journey, from the time of the diagnosis until recovery, “so you can learn from mistakes and to give hope na pwedeng gumaling and awareness na totoong merong pandemic.”
