After releasing a song, music video and limited-edition merchandise, Kim Chiu will be starring in a series inspired by her viral “Bawal Lumabas” gaffe.
Dreamscape Entertainment announced on Monday that Kim’s Bawal Lumabas The Series is coming this December.
“Ang buhay ay parang malaking classroom… where every mistake is a lesson learned. From learnings to blessings,” the teaser video said.
Kim’s “Bawal Lumabas” line originated from a Facebook live protest last May, where the actress tried to express support for her home network ABS-CBN following the shutdown of its broadcast operations with a classroom analogy. She herself admitted that she fell short in sending across a clearer message. (READ: Kim Chiu says sorry over viral ‘classroom’ statement)
Her statement quickly went viral, inspiring jokes, parodies and song covers. Amid the bashing, Kim decided to record a full song, release a music video and launch merchandise with proceeds to benefit COVID-19 relief efforts.
Kim said back then that while being the subject of the ridicule and bashing made her feel so down, she decided to move forward and “make things negative into positive. Kasi ang dami na ring malungkot na tao ngayon. Dahil sa ‘bawal lumabas,’ natawa sila.”
“Siguro kung that keeps them home, (if) that keeps them happy, sabi ko nalang sarili ko, siguro I’m doing a good job (dahil) na enjoy naman nila yung words ko. Thank you so much to myself!” she said.
Meanwhile, in an Instagram post on Monday, Kim said that she cried tears of joy upon the announcement of her series.
Recalling events leading to the new project, she said: “Five months ago I was lost, down and hopeless but never did I regret anything… anything that I said and stand for. I lost my confidence and questioned myself. But in the middle of everything that has happened, I didn’t lose my faith in HIM.
“Alam ko naman binibigyan tayo ng pagsubok ng Panginoon dahil alam niya ang kakayahan natin, para pagtibayin pa tayo lalo. Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng nangyayari. Pinapakita lang sa atin that BETTER DAYS ARE COMING.?? Tiwala lang at ‘wag makakalimot magpasalamat!❤️??.
“First time kong makita to kanina… ? Bumalik lahat… Naiyak ako ng masaya.❤️ Grabe. Salamat po. Wala ako masabi.☝?”
After finishing her Love Thy Woman afternoon drama also for Dreamscape, she said she has already been offered Kapamilya projects and has no plans of transferring to another network following the non-renewal of the network’s franchise.
Apart from the series, she’s now a regular host on It’s Showtime and currently filming the mystery-horror film titled U-Turn.
