Kapuso star Glaiza de Castro might be in a long-distance relationship, but her Irish boyfriend David Rainey made sure she felt the love on their anniversary.
Glaiza shared a kilig Instagram post showing how they got to celebrate their second year as a couple despite being in different time zones, after David enlisted the help of their friends.
He had a special set-up prepared in Baler, Aurora, where Glaiza owns a Bed & Breakfast. There was a big bouquet of red roses, plus a personalized pillow with his full-body image printed on it, waiting for her.
Completing the romantic moment, Irish boyband Boyzone’s song When You Say Nothing At All played in the background when Glaiza arrived to receive her surprise.
Glaiza’s boyfriend was visiting her early this year when he got caught up by the ECQ implementation in Luzon. When restrictions eased up, he managed to fly back home.
The actress expressed her gratefulness for the sweet gesture in a post.
She wrote: “Since I have been dealing with separation anxiety for being apart for a few months now, I chose to do things that make me happy like waking up in the morning to see the sunrise and learn surfing, exercising and cooking amongst other things.
“But this morning, someone surprised me and I’m so grateful he constantly find ways to be there for me. Though not physically for now.
“I know we’ll be together again but hopefully, soon. Lol. Maraming salamat at mahal kita ?.
“Special thanks to our friends who planned this perfectly and woke up extra early to set this up. Sobrang saya lang.”
In a STAR interview, Glaiza admitted that she never expected to find love in a foreigner.
“Sabi nga ng nanay ko, sa dinami dami ng tao sa mundo kami pa talaga, pinagtagpo kami, sa layo ng Ireland sa Pilipinas. We’re from the opposite sides of the world. Meron talaga eh, di mo masasabi.”
They initially had a lot of adjustments, culture-wise, but the relationship proved to be worth the LDR effort.
“Nag-alangan ako at first, at second, at third, parang di siya totoo. Ang surreal. Basta, parang ang hirap paniwalaan, but he proved na worth it naman siya.”
