Kris Aquino: ‘My hoped-for TV comeback isn’t happening’

“The producer chose somebody else…”

Kris Aquino has broken her silence on the status of her planned TV comeback via the Kapatid network.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the veteran host updated her followers who have been anticipating her already-announced TV show with “the honest truth” that it is no longer happening.

“This is a life update post I wish I didn’t have to make. But it’s something I’m facing up to in order to truthfully move on…My hoped for TV comeback isn’t happening,” the former presidential sister wrote.

According to Kris, the producer whom she didn’t name picked another person to do their show.

“The producer chose somebody else he and his sales team felt was more viable. No sugarcoating from me, you’re getting the honest truth,” she explained.

Her show, which was supposedly titled Love Life with Kris, was set for a mid-August premiere, a date she herself confirmed to TV5 news anchor Raffy Tulfo.

Apart from her cancelled comeback, she also had a “close call” with COVID-19 during the month of August.

“It’s been a scary month, four people who had regular, close contact with Bimb and me all tested positive for COVID-19 middle of August. Three of them have recovered, one is still battling this cruel virus,” she said.

They all got swabbed except for her eldest Joshua who was in Tarlac at the time of their exposure.

“Bimb has asthma, I have my autoimmune conditions. Yet we both tested negative, even though we had sustained contact and are high-risk individuals.

“We strictly isolated for two weeks, we had the ECLIA test done to be sure we weren’t asymptomatic, and again we were negative.”

She said that in the “bigger picture,” they still consider themselves fortunate because they are COVID-free.

Kris added that she will just focus on counting her blessings such as health.

“I would like to believe that I’m now a glass half full type of person — I no longer wish to focus on what’s not given, rather I am so very grateful for blessings, and YES, our health is the most precious one.”

Kris, nevertheless, said that she will continue to have faith that other opportunities will come her way.

Celebrity friends quickly offered their support but some followers expressed sadness over the latest development in Kris’ life.

One commenter said, “They let go of the most valuable asset they could have ever acquired,” which prompted Kris to respond with a “thank you” but at the same time, a request to move on.

“Honest, hindi ko dinibdib kasi hindi siguro talaga meant to be — and I wanted to at least be able to move on without pretending I was anything else. Thank you though for this supportive comment. Pero move on na tayo.”
