The Rock urges public to ‘wear a mask’ after entire family tests positive for COVID-19

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed that he and his entire family tested positive for COVID-19.

The 48-year-old star announced the news to his 196 million Instagram followers on Thursday, saying that he and his wife Lauren Hashian, 35, together with their two daughters, Tiana, two, and Jasmine, four, all contracted the virus.

He, however, said they are “on the other end of it” and are “no longer contagious.”

Calling their experience for the past three weeks as “one of the most challenging and difficult” things that they’ve ever had to endure as a family, he wished it was only him who tested positive.

“Testing positive for COVID-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injury, being evicted or even being broke which I have been more than a few times and the reason I feel this is different because my No. 1 priority is to always protect my family, my children and my loved ones,” said Dwayne, who made news recently for topping Forbes’ annual list of highest-paid actors for the second year in a row.

“I wish it was only me that tested positive. But it wasn’t. It was my entire family and it was a kick in the gut. But I’m happy to tell you that we as a family are good, we’re on the other end of it and we are no longer contagious. Thank God, we’re healthy.

“We are counting our blessings right now. We are well aware you don’t always get to the other end of COVID-19 stronger and healthier.

“I have had some of my best friends who have lost their parents to this virus that is so incredibly relentless and unforgiving, and it is insidious. We are counting our blessings, but we are good.”

He revealed that the family picked up COVID-19 from very close family friends despite being in lockdown since March in their home and being “incredibly disciplined” when it came to safety measures.

“My takeaway here is not to necessarily keep them (friends and loved ones) away, but what I am saying is now apply an even greater discipline to having people in your house… Get them tested (before coming) because you never know.”

Dwayne added that they got through COVID-19 by trying to “control the controllables”.

He summed it up in the video caption: “Stay disciplined. Boost your immune system. Commit to wellness. Wear your mask. Protect your family. Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings. Stay positive. And care for your fellow human beings. Stay healthy, my friends.”
