Willie Revillame offers cash aid to jeepney drivers, families of OFWs killed in Beirut blast

TV host Willie Revillame said he is donating P5 million to jeepney drivers displaced by the pandemic, as well as P100,000 each to the families of the four overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who died in the Beirut blast.

The Kapuso celebrity made the announcement during the Palace press briefing of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Friday.

These past two weeks, Roque has been holding his virtual presser at Willie’s WilTower in Quezon City after his office at the New Executive Building was closed off due to COVID-19 cases.

According to Willie, or Kuya Wil to his viewers, he wants to help as he’s been “blessed enough” to continue working amid the health crisis via his GMA 7 show Wowowin-Tutok To Win.

Willie said he’s entrusting his donation to Roque, adding that he has no idea how its distribution will be carried out. Siguro sayo (Roque) nalang.”

His plan was to release P5 million initially, with another cash aid of the same amount next month. He explained, “Sobra akong pinagpala ngayon.

Roque said that the donation will be turned over to the Social Welfare and Transportation government departments.

Willie also said that he’s willing to extend a cash assistance worth P100,000 to each of the families of the OFW victims of the powerful blast that rocked Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on Tuesday evening.

“‘Yung apat na pamilya po na naulila, I’m willing to give P100,000 each,” he said.

Roque said the said donation will be handed over to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA.
