Veteran actor John Regala has received the cash aid and other forms of assistance that TV broadcaster Raffy Tulfo had promised him earlier in an interview.
Regala, who is suffering from liver cirrhosis, previously went viral after photos of him seeking help from a delivery man in Pasay circulated online.
Following the incident, netizens called the attention of Tulfo to extend assistance to the actor.
During a phone call interview in last Tuesday’s episode of Idol in Action, host Tulfo pledged to give the ailing Regala P100,000 cash aid, groceries and medicines.
In a video uploaded on the program’s YouTube channel on Saturday, the news anchor’s team personally handed out all the assistance that was promised to the actor.
Regala revealed that his doctor told him he only got a few years to live. “Ako nama’y tinaningan na ng doctor. Bonus na nga itong pang-anim na taon. Pero sabi ng doctor, five years lang daw po ang tumatagal sa liver liver cirrhosis.”
He added, “Nakalipas na po yung five years, ito pong bagong taon, six years. Hindi ko lang alam po kung anong oras ako puputok. Dahil unang-una po parang walking time bomb ako dahil bigla na lang ako aatakihin sa puso. Ganun po ang may liver cirrhosis.”
Regala went emotional while thanking the Tulfo for his good deed.
“Sir Raffy, I salute you. Maraming, maraming salamat po sa tulong na ibinigay niyo sa akin at pipilitin ko po na gamitin ito sa pagpapalakas ng aking katawan. Kung bumigay man ang aking katawan, babaunin ko po ‘yung utang na loob na iyon sa hukay.
“Kulang po ‘yung salitang salamat. Salamat po ng marami.”
The video has garnered over 1 million views, just a few hours after it was uploaded on YouTube.
