The Kissing Booth 3 release date, plot and cast confirmed

It’s officially happening: The Kissing Booth 3 will hit Netflix in 2021.

The entire main cast of Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Meganne Young and Molly Ringwald will be back, as confirmed by the streaming service in a media statement.

Director/producer/writer of both The Kissing Booth 1 and 2 films also returns in the same capacity for the third instalment.

According to the synopsis, The Kissing Booth 3 takes off from where the story ended in the sequel, which was — spoiler alert! — Elle (King) receiving two offers of admission to both Harvard and Berkeley.

It’s going to be a tough choice between wanting to stay close to her reformed “bad-boy” boyfriend and keeping her promise to study in the same college as her bestfriend.

“It’s the summer before Elle heads to college, and she has a secret: She got into both Harvard, where her dreamy boyfriend Noah goes, and Berkeley, where her BFF Lee is going. Which path will Elle choose?”

The Kissing Booth 1 had a successful release in 2018 which led to a sequel that is now streaming on Netflix.

In an interview with The Philippine Star on Tuesday, King and Courtney described the sequel as even better than the original.

King said, “I think, it’s the perfect time for the movie to come out. The world is really going through a really tough time. I think that where we can find joy, and feel good about it, is a blessing.”

For his part, Courtney said, “We’re all social distant and, I think, there’s a longing for connectivity. The Kissing Booth can and will bring a little bit of that.”

He added, “Any way to bring people together at this point, I think has to be capitalized on. And I’m so excited to be part of something that will be able to do that for people.”

As of writing, the film is No. 2 on Netflix’s Daily Top 10 list of most-watched content in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, here’s the teaser trailer for The Kissing Booth 3.
