Mayor Isko Moreno wants to find kind-hearted taho vendor

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is now searching for the whereabouts of Gimmy Conod, the good-hearted taho vendor who was spotted giving out free taho to motorists waiting in line at the city’s drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at the Andres Bonifacio Shrine.

According to a Facebook post by The STAR on Wednesday, Conod who resides in Quezon City decided to serve taho for free because he wanted to help the government in his own little way.

The now-viral post has garnered over 67,000 reactions, as of writing.

This act of kindness did not go unnoticed as a visibly amazed Mayor Isko lauded Conod’s actions in his capital report on Wednesday. He noted that the taho vendor was able to give something despite not earning much.

He said, “Ako po with all honesty, speechless ako eh.Talaga pinapakain niya yung mga naghihintay?

“May puhunan ba yung taho? Meron. Eh pinamigay niyang libre. Eh di pinamigay niya yung puhunan niya.

“Anong ipinamigay niya? Kabuhayan niya. Bakit? Gusto niyang maging bahagi ng solusyon sa suliranin natin sa pandemyang Covid.”

Mayor Isko then told his staff to look for Conod as he wanted to personally meet him.

“Hanapin niyo ‘to. I wanna meet this guy. Pakisuyo lang.”

The local chief executive also turned emotional as he thanked Conod for his generosity.

“Thank you ha, Mang Gimmy kung nasaan ka man. Kung nanonood ka man. Thank you very much.

“‘Di ba ho nakaka-touch? I mean syempre yung move. Oh, lalo kaming magbubuti because Mang Gimmy, you inspire us. Thank you very much. Pinagtitibay mo ang damdamin namin that there is hope. Diyos na lang ang bahala sa’yo.”
