Liza Soberano sorry Make It With You fans won’t get proper ending

Make It With You star Liza Soberano has addressed speculation on the surprise cancellation of her ABS-CBN teleserye with Enrique Gil.

On Tuesday, Liza took to Instagram to thank fans as she confirmed that her primetime series is not among the ABS-CBN shows returning to TV via the new Kapamilya Channel on cable and satellite TV starting June 13.

“Thank you so much for embarking on the journey of Billie and Gabo. It breaks my heart to confirm that we will no longer be coming back to air,” Liza wrote.

The actress said that Make It With You was cancelled due to COVID-19 fears.

“I know a lot of you are upset and looking for answers and the only explanation I can give you is genuine fear of the virus,” she said.

They were asked to resume taping on June 13 but “many of us had hesitations,” she revealed.

“Considering that the COVID-19 situation here in the Philippines is far from contained, there are many risks in place for me (and everyone involved) given my history of having a weak immune system,” she added.

Liza said that she consulted her family, managers and the Make It With You team, and that they all came to an agreement that it might be for the best not to resume the show.

“That, along with many other factors are the reasons why MIWY will no longer continue,” she added.

She ended her post with an apology to the viewers of the show because they won’t be given a proper ending.

“I’m sorry we won’t be able to give our audience the ending they deserve. Thank you and looking forward to our next adventure.”

Liza Soberano’s manager Ogie Diaz and Make It With You director Theodore Boborol earlier bared the cancellation of the show, three months after the pandemic forced the suspension of TV and film production to contain the spread of COVID-19.

On March 15, the network temporarily halted the live entertainment shows and teleserye shoots in compliance with the declaration of the community quarantine and ban on mass gatherings. In lieu of primetime shows, ABS-CBN then aired reruns of classic teleseryes and iWant original series.

On May 5, the National Telecommunications Commission ordered ABS-CBN to stop its TV and radio broadcast operations a day after its 25-year license to operate expired.

On June 4, the media giant announced the June 13 launch of the Kapamilya Channel, which will be carried by cable and satellite TV channels owned and operated by other companies and not covered by the cease and desist order issued by the NTC.

Primetime shows such as FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and A Soldier’s Heart are part of the maiden line-up of Kapamilya Channel, along with the newly acquired K-drama hit The World of The Married, which based on the teaser trailer, will take over the time slot of Make It With You.
