Binibining Pilipinas postpones 2020 pageant indefinitely

On Tuesday, Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) postponed this year’s pageant in support of the government’s quarantine restrictions and efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“BPCI recognizes the pressing and urgent need to protect the health and safety of the candidates, their families and friends, all the passionate pageant supporters, and the general public. Mindful of the potential and serious risks, BPCI has decided to postpone the Binibining Pilipinas 2020 pageant indefinitely,” the organization said in a social media post.

The organization, nevertheless, clarified that rescheduling the pageant and its activities will depend on the government’s guidelines and regulations in the coming months.

“Rest assured that BPCI still intends to hold the Pageant with its partners and sponsors as soon as the situation permits, when the threat of transmission and infection is at its minimum,” BPCI wrote.

In February, the pageant introduced the candidates competing for the five crowns. The finals night was supposed to be held on May 31.
