LOOK: Pinay nurse in the UK gets heartwarming send-off after surviving COVID-19

After beating the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, Pinay senior nurse Alicia Borja received a heartwarming send-off from her fellow frontliners at the Northwick Park Hospital in the United Kingdom on Thursday.

Borja was greeted by her colleagues who lined up at the corridors to cheer her on as she finally made her way home after a month of battling the illness.

“I just want to thank my colleagues. I’ve got so much love for them. They are such a fantastic team. haven’t been able to see my daughters for a month so I can’t wait to get home,” she said in the post shared by the hospital’s Facebook page.

On April 7, British TV personality Piers Morgan paid tribute to Filipino healthcare workers for doing an amazing job of working at the frontlines of the UK’s battle against the pandemic.

He noted that his Pinay work colleague’s friends all work at Britain’s National Health Service (NHS).

“An amazing number of Filipinos work in our NHS and unsung heroes like so many but I just wanted to give them a shoutout right now. Just outstanding care,” he said.

Morgan also thanked other Filipino immigrants who continue with their duties to serve on the frontlines.

“So thank you to all the Filipinos who are here and to every other immigrant who works in the NHS currently and I hope at the end of this we have perhaps a different sentiment and a different feeling about what immigration has done for this country,” he ended.
