Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez shares quarantine experience

Leyte representative Lucy Torres-Gomez is about to end her self-quarantine without exhibiting symptoms of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The congresswoman thanked the people who have expressed their love and concern, and asked about her whereabouts.

“I am well and ending the quarantine with no symptoms. God bless and protect us all,” she said in a statement.

A video of the Leyte representative having contact with the confirmed COVID-19 positive Sen. Koko Pimentel has been circulating online.

The congresswoman said that the video was taken on March 4, 2020 in the house of Sen. Manny Pacquaio during an official PDP-Laban gathering.

“If anybody contracted COVID-19 during that party, he or she would have exhibited symptoms already,” she said.

Following Sen. Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, Pimentel is the second senator to have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Upon arriving in Ormoc from Manila last March 13, the congresswoman said that she along with three others followed the COVID-19 protocols and underwent a strict 14-day home quarantine.

“We went on self-quarantine even if we did not exhibit any symptoms, simply because we came from Manila,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez is grateful that his wife and daughter Juliana are staying nearby.

“It would have been very hard if Lucy and Juliana were in Manila. Mahahati ang concentration ko and I would worry about them all the time,” he said.
