Iza Calzado hospitalized for pneumonia while awaiting COVID-19 test result

Actress Iza Calzado revealed on Wednesday that she is now confined at a hospital for pneumonia while waiting for her coronavirus disease (COVID-19) test results.

“Hello, everyone. It’s been a while but I thought I’d update you all. I’m currently hospitalized for pneumonia and so, I was tested for Covid-19 and I’ve been waiting for the results for several days now,” Iza said in an Instagram post along with a photo of herself from a hospital bed.

The 37-year-old star admitted that it’s been a challenging period for her, but her condition is nothing compared to the work of the medical frontliners who are caring for her.

“It’s been a challenging time for me but it cannot compare to the frontliners who have cared for me and to whom I am so grateful. My heart goes out to everyone in these trying times, especially those who risk their lives every day to care for their loved ones,” she said.

She also appealed for prayers for those who are battling the disease, both patients and health workers. “I am hoping you all can join me in prayer for those who are currently sick and their loved ones, for every person struggling to cope in these tough times. And most especially, for the medical workers who are doing their best despite the hurdles.”

“I count this time as an opportunity to be kind. To be a source of love and light. With the grace of God, I can fight this and we all fight this together. ❤️,” she ended her post.

Iza turned off the comment section of her post, however some colleagues from showbiz took to their social media accounts to offer healing prayers for Iza.

Her talent manager Noel Ferrer wrote: “We’ve been praying for you and we love you @missizacalzado. Let’s pray for her healing.”

Matteo Guidicelli tweeted: “Breaks my heart. Praying extra extra hard Iza. Let’s all cooperate please. Stay home guys.”

The local arm of the international nonprofit World Wildlife Fund also wished its “national ambassador” a speedy recovery.
