GMA News TV temporarily goes off-air due to current state of calamity

Media giant GMA Network’s news channel is temporarily signing off “until further notice” amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon and state of calamity in the country.

“Due to the current state of calamity, GMA News TV is temporarily signing off,” read GMA News’ statement in its Facebook page on Thursday.

The statement further said: “Please stay tuned to GMA 7 and www.gmanews.tv for all news updates. Follow our official accounts on Facebook and Twitter: @gmanews.”

Kapuso radio and TV newscaster Arnold Clavio announced via an Instagram post that there will be changes in the airing time of GMA’s morning show Unang Hirit until Friday, March 20.

The show will only run for one hour and 45 minutes and will go off air starting on Monday.

“Pero patuloy po kami magbibigay ng balita sa @dzbb594. Be safe mga ‘iGan. Ang lahat po ng ito ay bilang pag-iingat at nang hindi na kumalat pa ang virus. ? Ingat mga Kapuso,” said Clavio.

Local media news channel CNN Philippines, on the other hand, announced on Wednesday that it will temporarily go off air after “a COVID-19 case was confirmed in the building (in Manila) where the company is located.”
