Inday Barretto says ‘actions of some family members’ don’t define her as parent

More than a week has passed since the epic confrontation between the Barretto sisters Gretchen, Marjorie and Claudine at the wake of their father, Miguel Barretto.

The persons involved continue to spit fire at each other and speak their version of the truth.

Marjorie Barretto earlier broke her silence on what happened at the family patriarch’s wake in a tell-all interview with Karen Davila on TV Patrol last Tuesday.

Immediately after, Claudine spoke to DZMM about the issue that has “divided the family”.

Meanwhile, businessman Atong Ang also aired his side — as his name is being dragged into the feud — with Noli De Castro in another TV Patrol exclusive on Thursday.

Gretchen, on the other hand, has been throwing shade at her sister Marjorie and niece Julia in her Instagram stories.

The teleserye-like developments to the family drama, dubbed by netizens as Keeping Up With The Barrettos after the popular US reality series about the Kardashian family, have made people wonder about the kind of upbringing they had.

Some say the whole controversy is just a result of how the parents raised their children.

Here are some of the netizens’ take on the issue:

But amid the ongoing dispute, the family matriarch Inday Barretto said in an interview that she was “too numb with grief” to deal with the controversy involving her family.

Inday also had this to say: “The behavior and actions of some members of my family definitely do not define our persons as parents as per the example and the principle we both lived our lives…many can attest to that,” as quoted from Ricky Lo’s Funfare column in The Philippine Star on Friday.

Meanwhile, Gretchen reconciled with her mother at the wake of her father after years of estrangement.

After her husband was laid to rest, Inday was seen in two separate family photos. One showed her with daughter Marjorie and other children with their respective families. She was also with Claudine and Gretchen in another photo.

While netizens are left puzzled over whether or not she’s taking sides among her daughters, one can just hope that the raging word war will finally end.
