VIRAL: Pandesal, ‘gin bulag’ get cameo in K-drama Vagabond

Guess what? “Pandesal” and “gin bulag” just reached the international scene after getting a cameo on a Netflix series!

Filipino viewers of Vagabond were thrilled to see the familiar Pinoy favorites in an episode of the K-drama series now airing on the streaming giant.

In episode 7 of the show, the unusual “Gindesal” combo was spotted on Go Hae Ri’s (Suzy Bae’s character) computer desk.

Filipino netizens found the unlikely pair hilarious but also felt a bit proud of its “guest appearance”.

A Twitter user posted: “What an awesome find! Watching episode 7 of Vagabond and look what’s beside Suzy Bae’s desk! Pandesal and Ginebra Gin! ??? and they’re in Morocco! Hahahaha”.

“Kape at pandesal is shaking,” another Twitter user said.

Some others joked about Suzy having a drink of the popular alcoholic beverage too early in the morning: “So totoo nga yung balita…. Suzy ang aga aga nag iinom ka ng Gin bulag…. tagay na!!”

“Pandesal + gin almusal starter pack,” another commenter said on Facebook.

Others, on the other, called it the national bread and drink.

Looks like Pinoy culture is getting a little share of the spotlight in K-dramas lately. Nash Ang, a Filipino actor and filmmaker, appeared in Arthdal Chronicles whose character speaks in the Tausug language. The fantasy-adventure series is also streaming on Netflix.
