South Korean singer Kyuhyun showcased his diverse musical palette before thousands of Filipino KYUpiters and ELFs as he wrapped up his “COLORS” Asia tour on Saturday at the New Frontier Theater.
Presented by L-Squared Productions PH, the Super Junior main vocalist opened his show with a heartfelt performance of “Restart,” followed by a confetti-filled stage of “Together.”
“Kumusta kayo? Na-miss ko kayo!” and “Hello, everyone! My name is Kyuhyun,” the K-pop star greeted his fans with enthusiasm.
Kyuhyun last visited the Philippines in 2023 alongside fellow Super Junior members Donghae, Eunhyuk, Leeteuk, Ryeowook, Shindong, Siwon, and Yesung for their “fan party” event.
“I’m kind of nervous because I’m just by myself,” he said through an interpreter, but assured the crowd of his all-out energy despite experiencing neck stiffness before the concert.
“Napaka-grateful [ko rin] na kayo ang kasama ko sa last stop ng tour na ito. And after today, you won’t able to see this COLORS tour anymore. You are so lucky,” he added, before proceeding to perform the feel-good track “Confession Is Not Flashy,” his popular OST from the K-drama “Hospital Playlist.”
Pinoy fans were indeed blessed to witness a collaboration between two iconic balladeers —Kyuhyun and his special guest Moira dela Torre. The two performed a duet of “A Million Pieces” and Moira’s hit “Paubaya.”
“Welcome to Manila. Thank you for having me and for singing with me,” Dela Torre told Kyuhyun, who complimented her skills in singing a Korean song.
“[Magaling] po kayong mambola, ano?” she quipped.
“Just like how you can sing Korean songs very well, I can sing the Filipino songs very well [too], but I will develop and get better,” Kyuhyun proudly said.
Kyuhyun continued to showcase his expertise in Korean ballads with a soulful number of his theatrical-style song “Nights Without You,” as the venue glowed with shifting lights and was enveloped in a smoky haze.
His love for his fans was palpable when he stepped off the stage and serenaded them with “Time With You” then got up close to the audience on the second floor while performing “Flying, Deep In The Night.”
Back on stage, Kyuhyun blissfully performed “Universe” showing his vocal brilliance as fans waved their banners and lightsticks in unison, singing along and creating a breathtaking chorus of love.
“Ang ganda talaga ng reaction ng Filipino fans,” he exclaimed.
After delivering an emotionally charged set, Kyuhyun amped up the energy with “Bring It On,” showcasing his dance moves beneath dazzling lights.
Cheers intensified during his Super Junior medley stages of “U”, “Sorry, Sorry”, “Devil”, and “SUPER Clap.”
“If I come back to the Philippines with the other members, I hope I’ll see you again,” he promised.
When fans shouted “Super Show!” Kyuhyun joked that he’d still have to check with SM Entertainment for the group concert to happen. His light-hearted comment left the fans chanting more as they hoped to see SuJu again.
The vibrant venue seemingly became a canvas painted with black and white courtesy of his sentimental performances of “Horizon”, “Unending Days”, “The Story Behind”, and “Dreaming.”
But Filo ELFs and KYUpiters’ energy remained unwavering during his encore, their enthusiasm never faltering as they sang their hearts out to Kyuhyun’s “At Gwanghwamun” and “One Spring Day.”
Before officially ending the night, Kyuhyun delivered a captivating performance of “Wishes,” closing the show with music, joy, and heartfelt thanks to his Filipino fans.
“I love you. Mahal ko kayo. See you soon, I will be back,” he remarked before exiting the platform, as he waved to the audiences whose hearts were painted with colors.
