Barbie Hsu’s South Korean singer husband, DJ Koo Jun Yup, has spoken out following the death of the “Meteor Garden” star.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, February 6, DJ Koo addressed speculations regarding the division of Hsu’s multimillion-dollar fortune, days after his wife’s passing on February 2.
Referring to Hsu by her Korean name, DJ Koo expressed his “deepest gratitude to those mourning Hee-won.”
“I am going through an indescribable time of sorrow and pain, as if the very foundations of my world are crumbling,” said DJ Koo, as roughly translated to English.
“I have neither the strength nor the will to say anything,” he continued.
DJ Koo then expressed his deep sorrow and frustration over the slander and false rumors on his family regarding financial matters.
“However, even before the pain of this great loss and the period of mourning could pass, malicious people began slandering my family and my love.
“Some pretend to grieve as they walk in the rain, while others spread false news about insurance and expenses for their own gain.
“Please, I beg of you, do nothing. Just let our Hee-won rest in peace. I sincerely plead,” implored DJ Koo.
DJ Koo then assured that all of Hsu’s hard-earned assets would be entrusted to her mother.
He also vowed to take legal steps to safeguard Hsu’s children’s inheritance until they reach adulthood.
Reflecting on his relationship with Hsu, DJ Koo said their time together was a “precious and invaluable gift that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world.”
“I believe that protecting the family that Hee-won loved most is the last thing I can do for her,” he said.
Hsu shares two children with ex-husband Wang Xiaofei. They got married in 2010 but had a bitter split in 2021. Hsu eventually rekindled her romance with Koo, whom she previously dated in the 1990s. They were set to celebrate their third wedding anniversary on February 8.
