“Hindi ako makapaniwala na mapapahiya pala ako nang ganito sa buhay ko.”
Maris Racal has broken her silence on the cheating controversy with onscreen partner Anthony Jennings, saying she’s sorry and “taking accountability” for what happened.
“Nagkamali ako, and I wanna say sorry for everything I have done,” the Kapamilya actress emotionally said in an exclusive video released by ABS-CBN News on Friday.
Looking back, the 27-year-old said she was in dark place around June when she started getting “the kind of attention that I needed” from Anthony.
“When I sensed that there was brewing attraction between Anthony and I, nadala ako sa emotions ko and I know that was wrong,” Maris admitted.
The actress then said she admitted everything to her ex-boyfriend Rico Blanco before eventually breaking up.
“It wasn’t easy,” Maris furthered as she explained the reason she became emotional when she announced their breakup in July was because she was holding back from telling the truth.
“Bago nagsimula ‘yung madaming trabaho namin, I told Anthony I broke up with my ex and he also said the same thing,” shared Maris.
“Aaminin ko, sa araw-araw na pagtatraho namin nahulog din yung loob ko,” she further admitted.
Maris claimed she was made to believe that Anthony is no longer together with his ex-girlfriend Jamela Villanueva that fueled her feelings and bond with the actor.
Then came Jamela’s TikTok reposts about betrayal and dishonesty which sparked breakup speculations between her and Anthony.
Maris said she asked Anthony to give a proper statement that he and Jamela are already over as she cannot stand the bashing but the actor would only tell her he’s “waiting for the right time.”
“God knows how many times I begged for a statement, I begged f a statement because I’m so tired of getting bashed…he said wait he’s waiting for the right moment.
“I really wanted to speak up but it wasn’t my story, and I would look really pathetic,” said the actress.
Anthony had only recently confirmed his breakup with Jamela last November 29 on the sideline of their presscon for Incognito, saying he’s only friends with Maris.
Days later, Jamela posted “receipts” of Anthony and Maris’ intimate conversation via Instagram stories.
“When I read it, I was gutted, I was shocked. I‘m truly embarrassed. Dahil nakita lahat ng tao yun without my consent––against my will,” Maris said emoionally.
“Dun ko napagtagpi-tagpi ang lahat. Kaya pala hindi siya makarelease ng statement dahil sila pa pala this whole entire time. I didn’t know. I was in the dark. I had no idea,” Maris stressed, saying she was clueless about Anthony and Jamela’s real status.
Maris said she reached out to Jam last November but didn’t get a response.
Towards the end of her statement, Maris offered her apologies to the public for seeing the “very intimate side of me.”
“Ganun talaga ako pag nabigay ng pagmamahal. It was supposed to be private. It was supposed to be a private, intimate thing,” stated Maris.
“I’m sad na nakita yun ng tao and yes I don’t want to play the victim here. Nagkamali din talaga ako. I want to say sorry to those people I have hurt.
“Especially, I’m truly sorry to those people who supported me for 10 years. Alam nila lahat na ginapang ko yung career ko mapunta lang san ko gusto. Ginawa ko lahat, pinaghirapan ko lahat sa tulong nila–– nagagawa ko yung mga gusto ko,” she added.
“I don’t know where I’m gonna go. I don’t know saan ako pupunta. Yung dignidad ko hindi ko na mahanap. Whenever I go out, whenever I walk I feel like a naked woman walking. Hindi ko alam anong gagawin ko.
Maris then assured that she will still continue to move forward despite the controversy.
“I can assure you tuloy pa rin ako. Tuloy pa rin ang laban. Magtratrabaho pa rin ako kahit mahirap. Hindi pa rin namamatay yung apoy sa puso ko.”
“What you saw was not a perfect human. I’m far from being perfect. What you saw was a human being and I really am just a human being,” she concluded.
