Actor Elijah Canlas took to social media to honor the memory of his late brother, JM Canlas, during the recent Olivia Rodrigo concert held at the Philippine Arena.
Elijah was among other celebrities who attended the Manila Silver Star Show in Bulacan last Saturday, where fellow artists, Andrea Brillantes, Sharlene San Pedro, Niana Guerrero, and Alexa Ilacad were also spotted at the highly-anticipated concert.
The actor posted a 1×1 photo of JM taken in front of the venue, where the Filipino-American singer-songwriter performed, and expressed the special connection they had through Rodrigo’s music.
According to the Elijah, his brother’s love for Olivia was evident even before she had risen as an international pop sensation and even made Elijah promise to take him to one of her concerts.
In his heartfelt message, Elijah wrote, “Just JM and I for the Olivia Rodrigo concert tonight. JM was so obsessed with Olivia—he literally had his own corner of Olivia merch at home. He even made me watch the Disney shows she starred in, which is why I know most of her songs. He would sing and play them a lot in the car.”
Sadly, JM passed away on August 2023, at the age of 17.
Elijah, keeping his brother’s memory alive, fulfilled the promise in spirit, attending the concert on JM’s behalf.
He continued, “Oo na… magaling na Olivia mo, JM. Miss kita! Kahit mag-isa lang ako kanina at may konting buhos ng luha, ramdam kitang sumasabay sa bawat kanta, nakangiting tumatalon, at tunay na maligaya. Hope you had fun!”
