Thai rapper BamBam, a member of the K-pop boy group GOT7, recently stirred concern among fans after posting alarming messages on social media.
Concerns began after BamBam hinted at his departure in the following year on his now-expired Instagram story, writing, “[I’ll] be gone for good 2025”
This was followed by a cryptic “good night” message on X (formerly Twitter) which he posted on September 29.
When a concerned fan urged him to surround himself with supportive people, BamBam replied that the very people around him were the reason for his struggles, saying, “[P]eople around me is the reason [I’m] dying.”
Before airing the worrying posts, BamBam had earlier apologized for being “negative” and “sensitive”, and announced that he would be taking a break, promising to make a “comeback as a positive person again”.
BamBam’s posts have left fans worried about his mental well-being, prompting an outpouring of love and support from the K-pop community.
In response to the worrying messages, K-pop fans of the Thai rapper and his group, fondly known as “Ahgases”, along with those from various fandoms joined forces to shower social media with messages of hope and encouragement for BamBam.
His fellow GOT7 member, Jackson Wang, also stepped in to show his support.
On Tuesday, Wang responded to his co-member and close friend’s latest post where he shared the song “Changes” by American singer-songwriter Justin Bieber and advised him to focus on himself and not let negative influences get in the way of his well-being.
“Sometimes you [just have to] be more selfish and get things right for [yourself]. It’s not always a bad thing. We all have choices. Make them, Bam. Be at a place where you get appreciation,” wrote Jackson.
He added, “Don’t forget who [you are]. [I] love you for who you are.”
Wang also reassured BamBam that his fans are a source of strength, adding, “[Your] audience loves you. [You are the] reason. Not anything else—not the people, team, label, partners, or anyone else.”
Jackson and BamBam reunited at Paris Fashion Week last year and were previously in Manila for a concert alongside the K-pop group TREASURE.
Korean soloist Jessi also took to Instagram to show her support for Bambam, dropping a short, heartfelt message on one of his worrying posts.
“We love you Bambam ❤️❤️❤️,” his fellow rapper wrote.
BamBam is currently preparing for his showcase tour “BAMESIS” which kicked off in Bangkok, Thailand last August. The tour will continue in The Philippines this September with Cebu and Manila leading the line-up of cities as stated in its poster.
