Celebrity entrepreneur Sam Verzosa has auctioned off 10 of his prized luxury vehicles to raise funds for the construction of a Dialysis and Diagnostic Center in Sampaloc, Manila.
The auction, held over the weekend, raised P200 million, which will go directly to the facility’s development.
Among the vehicles sold was Verzosa’s cherished Bentley, sharing his internal struggle over whether to sell the car, especially considering its emotional importance as it was his late father’s dream car.
“Yun [Bentley] pinaka-sentimental car diyan. Inisip ko kung gusto ko keep or benta kasi wala na father ko,” Verzosa said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
He recounted how his father, who had undergone dialysis, had requested him to buy the Bentley, but unfortunately passed away before the car arrived.
“Pero mas [matutuwa] tatay ko. Siya nagturo sa akin magbigay,” he shared to the press.
Verzosa ultimately decided to sell the Bentley, believing it would be in line with his father’s values, particularly in helping dialysis patients in need.
“Iniisip ko mas marami makikinabang kaysa naka-park sa garahe,” he remarked.
The businessman explained that the decision to fund a Dialysis and Diagnostic Center was driven by the overwhelming need for such services, particularly for the underprivileged.
“Pinili ko ito kasi tuwing umiikot ako kahit ‘di Maynila, lagi bulong sakin ‘yan… dialysis… Pang check-up ospital,” Verzosa explained, highlighting the numerous requests for help he receives on social media from families struggling to support loved ones with serious medical conditions.
Other luxury and supercars auctioned off included models from Ferrari, Rolls Royce, McLaren, Maserati, Audi, BMW, and Lamborghini, all from Verzosa’s personal collection.
The Dialysis and Diagnostic Center, once completed, is expected to provide much-needed medical support to underserved communities in Manila and beyond, continuing Verzosa’s father’s legacy of giving back to those in need.
Previously, Sam announced on social media that he donated a brand new Maserati Levante for auction to raise funds for the construction of a bone marrow transplant facility at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
Through his collaboration with the “I Want to Share” Foundation, they raised P19 million to support cancer patients.
This move comes after Sam’s confirmation to run for mayor of Manila in the 2025 midterm elections. If elected, Verzosa would face formidable opponents, including former Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno and the current mayor, Honey Lacuna.
