‘Nanghihingi ka na ng atensyon’: Jackie Gonzaga gets emotional over love life questions

By Rie Realingo

“Everyday tina-try kong sabihin (na kaya ko na uli). Going there, baby steps.”

A heartfelt conversation turned to a tearful discussion as It’s Showtime host Jackie Gonzaga began to share her sentiments about matters of the heart in the show’s segment, Tawag ng Tanghalan.

In an episode of the segment, Jackie’s manager and co-host, Vice Ganda, asked a series of questions regarding love and relationships.

Despite no confirmation yet, fans are convinced that Jackie’s long-term relationship with former hashtag member Tom Doromal had already ended, which could explain her being emotional over Vice’s questions.

When asked by Vice on how would know she if someone does not love her anymore, Jackie responded, “‘Yung nanghihingi ka na ng atensyon. Kasi noong una hindi mo naman hinihingi, kusa niyang binibigay.”

“Doon ko na-realize na, ay noong una binigay ng kusa ta’s ngayong hinihingi ko na, hindi pa ibinibigay,” she added.

She further explained that one would know especially if the effort and attention are suddenly not as consistent as before.

The Unkabogable Star furthered by asking, “Paano mo nasabing, ‘ay, tapos na ‘to’?”

To which Jackie replied with, “Kasi, ang dami mo nang nabigay na pagkakataon, pero dumating pa rin sa punto na may ginawa pa rin siya para masaktan ka… Parang, sinasadya na ba ‘to? O hindi mo lang talaga ako mahal.”

Her response gained a reaction from “madlang” people, who seemingly felt her sentiments.

When probed about being free from a relationship, Jackie tearfully said, “Hindi ko masabi yung makakalaya pero dumating ako do’n sa puntong bibitaw ako kasi hindi ko deserve na paulit-ulit kang sasaktan.”

Vice asked again, “Kailan mo nasabing, kaya mo na uli?”

Jackie, on the verge of tears, answered, “Everyday tina-try kong sabihin (na kaya ko na uli). Going there, baby steps.”

Eventually, Jackie shed a few tears when Vice told her that he was proud of her.

Jackie was also found once being emotional in another segment, “Expecially For You,” when she and her fellow hosts bantered about having “no closure” in a relationship.

Although vocal with her opinions about love, Jackie nor Tom officially discussed the status of their relationship publicly.
