“Are you even worth it? To be called a dad?”
Actress Nadia Montenegro set the record straight regarding speculations of her alleged daughter with actor Baron Geisler.
In an exclusive two-part interview with Julius Babao on the broadcaster’s YouTube channel, Nadia addressed the issue for the first time publicly. She, however, did not mention Baron by name.
Nadia revealed that while the public might not have been aware of the situation, her family, including her late husband, former Caloocan Mayor Macario “Boy” Asistio Jr., knew the truth, even before his death in February 2017.
“‘Yung mga nangyari sa buhay ko before, in the past — siguro umabot sa 17, 18 years na naitago ko — hindi ko ito itinago sa mga taong dapat nakakaalam,” Nadia said.
“Hindi ko rin ito itinago sa mga mahal ko sa buhay. Hindi ko itinago sa anak ko. Hindi ko itinago kay Boy.”
“In fact, all these years, it was so difficult for people to understand,” she added.
She emphasized that felt no need to explain her life choices to others.
“But I don’t think I owe anyone an explanation kung anuman ang ginawa ko sa buhay ko. Napatawad ako ng Panginoon. Maayos namayapa si Boy na okay kami,” she expressed.
In the interview, Nadia recounted a conversation she had with Boy just two weeks before his passing, where he assured her to fight for their children and continue his legacy.
Nadia and Boy have eight children — seven daughters named Alyssa, Alynna, Alyana, Anykka, Samantha, Ayisha, and Sophia, and one son named Xander.
“Ang sinabi niya sa akin, ‘Ipaglaban mo sila. Lahat ng ibinilin ko sa inyo, inyo. At hanggang buhay ako, ako lang ang ama nila,’” she recalled her late partner’s words.
Nadia also spoke about her daughter Sophia, describing her as a blessing and the “most beautiful girl,” taking pride in how she raised her child with love and respect for Boy.
“She’s [the] most beautiful girl na pinalaki ko siya, punumpuno ng pagmamahal. Punumpuno ng respeto sa tatay niya, si Boy, sa nagbigay ng pangalan sa kanya, sa nagpaaral sa kanya, sa nagmahal sa kanya,” Nadia described her daughter.
Despite public perception, she made it clear that Sophia currently has no interest in forming a relationship with her biological father.
“As of now, hindi,” Nadia affirmed to Julius.
She added, “Isang beses pa lamang sila nagkita, biglang in-announce na agad. So, asan dun ang intensiyon mo?
Nadia further questioned his intentions, implying it was more for publicity than genuine interest.
“Magkaroon ng relationship o gusto mo lang ang views? Gusto mong mapag-usapan o gusto mong mag-promote?” she asked pointedly.
“Ilagay mo sa tama kung ano ang intensiyon mo kasi ramdam na ramdam ko ayaw na ng anak ko. And give me a reason why. Are you even worth it? To be called a dad?” the actress addressed to the father of her child.
Nadia’s statements came after Baron’s revelation of having a secret firstborn daughter with another woman last March during his interview with entertainment reporter Ogie Diaz while promoting his drama film, “Dearly Beloved.”
The actor, however, did not disclose the identity of the mother of his child, but netizens began to notice striking similarities between Nadia’s daughter and the actor, fueling rumors about the two celebrities and their alleged secret child.
According to Baron, he and his current partner, Jamie Marie Evangelista-Geisler, had already met his daughter but opted not to disclose any further information about it.
Baron and Jamie tied the knot in September 2019 and welcomed their daughter Talitha in January 2020. Jamie also has children of her own from her previous relationship, Joaquin and Javi.
