ABS-CBN Star Cinema, GMA Pictures join forces for sequel to KathDen’s Hello, Love, Goodbye

ABS-CBN Star Cinema and GMA Pictures are producing the much-anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster hit “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” reuniting its lead stars Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards.

As first reported by Hollywood entertainment site Deadline, the two film houses confirmed on Sunday, May 19, that they will unite for the much-awaited sequel titled “Hello, Love, Again“.

This project marks the first film collaboration between ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema and GMA Network’s GMA Pictures, following their historic partnership on two shows: the variety show “It’s Showtime” in April 2024 and the drama series “Unbreak My Heart” last year.

The theatrical release of Hello, Love, Again is reportedly scheduled for November 13, 2024, in the Philippines, with international releases to follow,

Kapamilya star Kathryn Bernardo and Kapuso heartthrob Alden Richards are set to reprise their roles as Joy and Ethan, respectively, with Cathy Garcia-Sampana, who directed the original film, returning to direct the sequel, which will be reportedly shot in Canada.

According Deadline’s report, the sequel will be set five years after the events on the first film.

The first movie hit theaters in 2019, concluding with Joy embarking on a medical career and Ethan starting his own business.

“I am as excited as all of you perhaps, to find out what Joy and Ethan had gone through after Hello, Love, Goodbye and will be going through in ‘Hello, Love, Again,'” Garcia-Sampana said in the Deadline report.

“After fighting for their love to conquer the time, distance and a global shutdown that kept them apart, Joy and Ethan meet again in Canada but realize that they have also changed a lot, individually,” Deadline wrote about the sequel’s plot.

Hello, Love, Goodbye was the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time until it was overtaken by Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entry “Rewind” earlier this year.
