Queen of Tears finale becomes highest-rated episode on Korean network tvN

In a groundbreaking achievement for South Korean television, the hit series, Queen of Tears, has shattered all previous records set by K-dramas on the Korean pay TV channel tvN.

The series, starring K-drama superstars Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, is now hailed as the “highest-rated cable TV drama” on tvN.

According to a report by Soompi, the final two episodes of the series which aired this past weekend, solidified the new milestone in Korean television history.

Based on data from Nielsen Korea, the highly-anticipated finale episode of Queen of Tears garnered a nationwide rating of 24.85 percent, marking the highest rating to date. It is reported that over six million people tuned in to watch the finale.

Furthermore, the romance series achieved a historic milestone by becoming the “most-watched program of any kind to air” for its 15th episode, as reported by Soompi.

This achievement surpasses the previous nationwide rating record held by 2020 K-drama “Crash Landing on You”, starring real-life couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, which attained a rating of 21.683 percent for its last two episodes in February 2020.

As of writing, the hit K-Drama series also leads as the top-ranking TV show on Netflix Philippines.
