Grade 9 student severely injured after SUV runs over her while crossing a pedestrian lane

A grade 9 student from Cavite was severely injured after being run over by an SUV while she was passing by a pedestrian lane on April 4, 2024.

According to Deb’s mother, Mary Assumption Vito Velasquez, she received several calls from unknown numbers early in the morning.

“We thought scam siya. Mommy Mary told The Philippine STAR.

Deb figured in an accident while crossing the Antero Soriano Highway in General Trias, Cavite while on her way to Tanza National Comprehensive High School.

According to my daughter, ‘yung mga sasakyang iba tumigil. Tapos malayo ‘yun from pedestrian lane kung saan siya natagpuan,” she said.

Deb was immediately taken to the nearest hospital. She sustained bone injuries in her legs, shoulder, and pelvis.

Fortunately, Deb undergone her first leg surgery on April 6, 2024, at the Medical Center Imus.

According to her, ‘yung pain nagsa-subside lang. Itutulog niya. ‘Bakit nangyari ‘to sa ‘kin?’” she recalled.

“‘Mommy hindi ko na kaya. Please. Sobrang sakit na. Ayaw ko na.’ Sabi ko, ‘Hindi pwede. Lumalaban kami, Deb. Lumaban ka rin, please. Para kay mommy.’ ‘Di siya makakain, ‘di siya makainom. Kahit ‘yung mag-ihi siya, mag-poopoo siya, sobrang sakit talaga,” she added.

Mommy Mary said that thankfully, the 50-year-old SUV driver was cooperative enough on the investigation.

Mommy Mary and her family are praying for Deb’s continuous recovery as they promise to be with her on her journey to healing.
