Eat Bulaga debunks fake news about rumored closure due to financial loss

Eat Bulaga mainstays Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon contradicted rumors that the noontime show is facing closure because of financial loss.

“May mga sinungaling na nagkakalat na nalulugi raw tayo, at magsasara na raw tayo. Sabi ng mga sinungaling,” Tito took a jab at rumormongers during “Eat Bulaga’s” “Gimme 5” segment aired on April 17.

“Tayo nalulugi? Magsasara after 45 years?,” Allan K asked in jest.

This after online rumors arose that Eat Bulaga’s producers Media Quest and TVJ productions held an “emergency meeting” due to financial problems.

“Tito, naiinggit lang ang mga yan dahil hindi sila kasali sa Top 5 longest-running show in the world,” Joey bragged about the the variety show’s latest achievement.

To dismiss such speculations, Tito dared to provide a copy of their income tax return to the media to dismiss such speculations.

Joey went on to diss at the fake news spreaders daring: “Umabot lang kayong 15 years baka luluhod ako sa harap niyo. 15 lang ah hindi 50, eh baka by that time bumiyahe na ako eh.”

Tito also reminded avid supporters as well as non-Eat Bulaga fans: “Kaya sa mga Dabarkads at ilang hindi Dabarkads, ‘yung mga nagsasalita ng ganun sinungaling yun. Wag na kayo maniniwala sa mga ‘yun.”
