Filipino veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez, or James Ronald Dulaca Gibbs in real life, has passed away. He was 77 years old.
According to an ABS-CBN report, police confirmed the late actor’s passing on December 17, 2023.
The actor was best known for his antagonist and paternal roles in several hit films and series.
He won Best Supporting Actor awards at the Film Academy of Philippines (1994) and Metro Manila Film Festival (1997), and received the Helen Vela Lifetime Achievement Award for Drama at the Golden Screen TV Awards in 2015.
Ronaldo was also named the first Filipino Colonel of international fast food chain KFC in 2017.
He is survived by his children Janno Gibbs and Melissa Gibbs.
The veteran actor last starred in the Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla-starrer 2 Good 2 Be True, where he played the role of “Lolo Sir”.
